THERMOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS OF THE FACADE

Infrared thermography is a technique that captures the thermal radiation emitted by a body or object and transforms it into an image. It can be used for a multitude of situations, such as installations, construction, industrial mechanics, etc.

The thermographic camera points at the body to be studied, without coming into contact with it. The result will be a thermographic image that will show us the different temperatures in the specific area or in the installation while it is working.

Its main advantages are:

  • Easy study to perform, which doesn’t require any building work, sampling or tasting. It is not destructive, it does not interrupt any production process and it is working while other works are being carried out without causing any damage.
  • It reduces analysis costs by quickly locating all breakdowns and faults, thus reducing maintenance actions.

LASER SCANNER FACADE STUDY

The laser scanner is a tool that allows us to build, through the collection of a large amount of data, the BIM model of a building by using a point cloud.

Its operation starts with the emission of a laser from a distance meter that bounces off a point and returns delivering information about the point studied. At the same time, its scanning system analyzes the light beam’s exit angles. In a few minutes, the laser scanner is capable of analysing the entire façade, creating a point cloud with millimetric precision that informs us about the entire map of the building.

Currently, this type of technology is one of the most widely used for obtaining an accurate photograph of the building which is going to be renovated, as it facilitates the modelling and study of the construction systems in order to proposing a solution for the renovation.

POINT CLOUD REPRESENTATION AND MODELING

Once the sweep is completed, the result obtained it is a millions of points map represented on a coordinate axis, their reflectance and colour, data that is used to work on the full-scale modelling of the building with a high level of precision.

This scan is very useful to study and determine exactly the most suitable systems for the renovation, also showing up some kind of obstacles that couldn’t be found by using outdated measurement methods.

Using specific software, a complete model of the building in its current state can be created and, from there, using this information in order to offering different proposals for the development of the reform.
